President's Message

Welcome to Rotary Club of Wanchai website. All club Rotarians hope you'll enjoy your visit.

Our club is a member of district 3450, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and our weekly meeting is held every Monday at 12:45 at Grand Hyatt hotel in Wanchai. Our official language is English. Rotarians of other club and guests when they are invited by one of our member are welcome to join. Shall you are interested in visiting us, please contact us at rc.wanchai@gmail.com

Joining us, you'll have the opportunity to meet our 38 members coming from 13 different countries which makes one of the main force of our club. Some members are in Honk Kong since the club was founded 21 years ago, some are expatriates who joined more recently, other members are local leaders among their community in Hong Kong. All are passionate about our involvement as Rotarians. This diversity brings us to be a unique club and is most certainly the main reason why so many visiting rotarians from the world like to join our lunches when visiting Hong Kong.

I invite you to look at our 16 projects we are proud to support whether accross the street or all over Asia. Our rule is to be certain that the funds will be used directly for the one in needs. Before we join a charity project funding, some of our members go and visit the Charity or NGO and make certain of what we will pay for. Apart from the global Rotary International projects among which Eradicate Polio from Earth is the most important one, we support mainly projects in association with education, medical, core values preservation (historical, ethical). We have contributed to build hospitals, houses, participated to first rescue programs after disasters such as earthquake or tsunamis.

Rotary is about giving and sharing while acknowledging we are more fortunate than others and that help is possible, hope can succeed to tears by the willingness of a few motivated club members.

In 2011-2012, Rotary International theme is "reach within to embrace humanity". Our RI President, our District Governor, our club Presidents and Club members are all dedicated to making a change possible anywhere the situation deserves it.

Please live with passion and be certain that believing in true core values and making efforts to understand each other and sharing time on common projects is a start for less fortunate than us finding back the way for a decent living and sometimes even smile for the first time in their life.

Rotary Club of Wanchai first formal luncheon was held on 15 January 1990 while the club was chartered on 11 May 1990. With now 38 members, representing 13 nationalities, our club is friendly, truly international and well known for its fellowship.
